At The Grange Primary School, we believe that learning about beliefs and values helps our pupils become thoughtful, respectful and open-minded citizens. That’s why we follow the North Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (RE), ensuring a rich, enquiry-based curriculum from Reception through to Year 6.

A Balanced Curriculum
Our RE curriculum weaves together three interconnected strands—Believing (theology), Living (human/social sciences) and Thinking (philosophy)—so children develop a rounded understanding of religion and worldviews.

Across the key stages, we explore:

  • EYFS: Special people, special times and beginnings of personal belief.
  • KS1: Christianity and Islam as compulsory core, with enquiry questions that invite children to wonder, belong and believe.
  • KS2: Christianity, Hinduism and Islam as core, plus additional units on Judaism, Sikhism, Buddhism and non-religious worldviews, fostering comparison and deeper reflection

Progressive Learning & Assessment
RE is taught using enquiry questions to drive active learning and support clear progression. Teachers gather evidence through discussion, reflection journals, creative projects and class debates, ensuring every child’s spiritual, moral and cultural development is visible and celebrated.

Enriching, Hands-On Experiences
Lessons combine story, artefact exploration, role-play and visits (or virtual tours) to places of worship. We believe that artefacts, images and first-hand accounts bring faiths to life and these immersive experiences help pupils make real-world connections and foster empathy.

Community Partnership
We work closely with local faith leaders and celebrate festivals through whole-school events.
