At our school, we are committed to providing a high-quality Physical Education curriculum that inspires all pupils to enjoy being active, develop lifelong healthy habits, and build confidence through sport. We follow the Key PE Sports scheme of work, which ensures progressive skill development, clear progression, and engaging lessons across all year groups.
We work closely with Premier Sports to enhance the delivery of PE across school. Their specialised coaches provide regular, high-quality CPD for staff, supporting teachers to develop subject knowledge, confidence, and best practice in PE teaching.
In partnership with Get Ahead, we also offer sports mentoring to support pupils’ wellbeing and personal development. This partnership helps engage children across the whole school in a range of sports enrichment opportunities, including events such as Silent Discos and inclusive games activities.
We host an annual Sports Week, during which pupils take part in daily sporting activities. These range from traditional track and field events to team competitions, alongside celebrations of athletes and sporting role models that promote aspiration, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Sports Week concludes with a whole-school family colour run, a fully inclusive event that brings together pupils, families, and staff to celebrate physical activity, participation, and enjoyment of sport within our wider school community.
Inclusion is at the heart of our PE provision. All lessons are fully differentiated to ensure every child can participate and succeed. We work closely with Scunthorpe Steelers Wheelers, a wheelchair basketball team, who deliver wheelchair basketball coaching in Key Stage 2. This experience raises awareness of inclusive sport and helps pupils develop understanding, empathy, and respect.
Our commitment to equality and access in sport was recognised when the school achieved a local award for equality in sports provision (2025–26).
In addition to curriculum PE, we offer a range of after-school sports clubs, providing further opportunities for pupils to stay active, develop new skills, and enjoy sport in a supportive and fun environment.
