Welcome to Year 3 Class 1

Class Information

Class Teacher: Mrs Knowles

We have enjoyed having Zumba as our PE session on Wednesday afternoons and the PE slot for Spring Term is TBC, we will send a text when we know the exact day.

REMINDER: Homework must be completed and handed in on or before each Friday and reading needs to be recorded in planners 3x weekly.

Superstars – Well done to Kingsley my star writer for the Writing assembly on 2.12.16 for his fantastic contributions to class discussions and his use of amazing adjectives!!

English

We will be using the popular ‘Where’s Wally?’ books to increase our knowledge of expanded noun phrases to specify. What can you find in the picture?

Also in English we are going to be focusing on Legends and Myths particularly the story of ‘George and the Dragon’ we will be revisiting skills such as using inverted commas for speech and extending our sentences using conjunctions.

We will be writing our own myths and legends and learning about what features this genre contains.

Maths

In the summer term we will be focusing on multiplication and division methods. We are learning two new written methods to help us solve multiplication problems: the grid method and the smile method. We are also looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, looking at nets of shapes and sorting shapes based on their properties.

Safer Internet Day 2015 – 10th February

As part of this nation wide event we looked at keeping safe on the internet. The web site we looked at was http://www.kidsmart.org.uk/

Please take the time to look at this with your children it has lots of information and advice for keeping children safe at home when using the internet.

Reminders

A polite reminder that PE is every Monday and kit must be in school. Thank you Mrs Knowles.

Pupils are also required to read three times a week and this must be recorded in their planner.
